Addison

Addison!

Addison was born in July 2021, and right from the start she has needed critical medical care. Addison had a cleft palate and doctors soon discovered she was suffering from Pierre Robin Sequence, a congenital birth defect characterized by an underdeveloped jaw, backward displacement of the tongue and upper airway obstruction. At just 20 days old, Addison underwent her first surgery. This surgery would help move Addison’s jaw forward to help her breathe. She had plates and rods implanted so that doctors could adjust her jaw twice daily. She also had her G tube (feeding tube) placed during this surgery. Fast forward to today - Addison has already had surgery to remove the rods, but she will be at UVA next week to determine when the plates can be removed. Addison currently has RSV and is struggling (RSV is a respiratory virus that can be life-threatening).

Addison’s mom and dad have been weathering storms for months with Addison. Sadly, both mom AND dad have been let go from their jobs due to the time they took caring for Addison in the NICU at two different hospitals, due to continued travel to Addison’s hospital several times a week (2 hours one way), and due to Addison's two toddler brothers that rely on mom and dad as well. Thank you for loving this family by way of donations, well wishes, and prayers.
