I was born at 28 weeks and 4 days gestation, weighing only 2lbs., 2 oz. I spent 3 months in the NICU at the hospital. When I was born I had a hole in my heart. I was too little and too weak to have the high risk, open heart surgery that I needed to close the hole. When I grow enough and am stable enough I will hopefully get my heart fixed.

My mom was unable to work due to the constant need to be at the hospital with me and with my medical team. My family only has one vehicle, which meant my dad’s work hours were sparse given the amount of hospital travel required. Plus, I have two siblings that needed care at home! 

My family came to Samuel’s Supper in true crisis, with no immediate way to end the cycle of interrupted work, and with no immediate way to pay bills or meet travel expenses. Samuel’s Supper made sure my family had what we needed while I was undergoing all of the specialized care I required for  6 months. They helped buy groceries, took care of our rent, bought medical equipment that insurance wouldn't cover, and did so many other things!  Now I'm home, doing well, and my mom is back to work!
